Jacob Blessing LPC-A
Jacob views therapy as a team effort and aims to cultivate an environment where you feel secure and encouraged to explore.
He welcomes individuals of all ages and diverse backgrounds, including cultural, racial, and religious identities, as well as members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Jacob has experience supporting people through trauma recovery and those navigating challenges related to identity, anxiety, and depression. He also specializes in working with neurodivergent individuals of all ages and children/teenagers who face difficulties with attention, behavior, and emotional regulation.
In his practice, Jacob utilizes several counseling approaches, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, attachment-based therapy, narrative therapy, and emotion-focused therapy.
Beyond his work with adult and teenage clients, Jacob has a particular focus on supporting children through play therapy. This evidence-based method allows children to express and understand their behaviors and emotions using their natural language: play. Jacob is also dedicated to advocating for children and adolescents by fostering better communication between them and their parents.
Originally from central Kansas, Jacob's journey has taken him through Chicago, Illinois, and Colorado before arriving in Charleston. He earned his Master's in Clinical Mental Health in 2023.
